At this information session, we will describe Community Service Opportunities designed for High School Athletes who wish to serve as role models for urban youth. Athletes are matched to a variety of programs that focus on the sport of their choice including soccer, lacrosse, swimming, tennis, squash, basketball and baseball.

This is the second year of a successful collaboration between Internship Connection and the Community Centers of Boston and Metro West. For many years, college athletes have served as mentors using sport to create social change. Now, high school athletes have the unique opportunity to develop their leadership skills as role models for urban youth.

These community programs foster self-esteem, promote health education, and provide reading and tutoring assistance. Activities vary and include outdoor and indoor sports instruction, social and academic activities, field trips, arts, health and wellness.

Internships are part-time with a flexible schedule. Documentation for Community Service Credit is provided.

"During all of my college interviews I talked about my summer internship at a political action non-profit. The college admissions officers seemed impressed that I had already gained this type of experience in high school."

-Eric M., former Internship Connection intern, now a freshman at Stanford University
